14 Aug Bourbon Whiskey BBQ Sauce
Summertime means being outside
as much as possible and what
better way then enjoying family
and friends with a BBQ. Sure it’s
easy to buy a jar of BBQ sauce but
this Bourbon Whiskey BBQ Sauce
is a sweet and smoky barbecue
sauce made richer and more
complex with bourbon and I
guarantee you will not go back to
the bottle. Bourbon gives this
barbecue sauce a depth of flavor that compliments Chicken, London broil,
ribs, brisket and steak.
INGREDIENTS:
1/4 onion, minced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 cup bourbon whiskey
1/4 teaspoon ground black
pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons tomato paste
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
2 tablespoons Worcestershire
sauce – make sure you
buy the one without fish
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
DIRECTIONS:
In a large skillet over medium heat cook the onion and garlic for 10 minutes
or until onion is translucent. Add bourbon, ground black pepper, salt,
ketchup, tomato paste, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and brown sugar.
Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, and simmer for 20 minutes.
Store unused portions in the refrigerator up to 1 week.
