14 Nov Green Beans with Caramelized Onions
Green bean casserole is a very traditional Thanksgiving side dish. I’ve never been a fan of using canned soups especially the parve cream soups. This recipe will give you the delicious green bean flavor without the canned soup taste. The great thing about this recipe is that there are no measurements you can make as much or as little as you need.
Ingredients:
– Green Beans – Trimmed
– Garlic Powder
– Brown Sugar
– Salt
– Dried Minced Onion
– Olive Oil
Directions: In a large bowl, coat the green beans with a drizzle of olive oil, salt, a couple of shakes garlic powder, a little brown sugar, less than a spoon (this caramelizes the string beans), and dried minced onions (be generous with the onions, shake a lot on there!) After seasoning the beans, line a tray with parchment) and spread them out. The trick is to avoid overcrowding the tray. I love when the string beans get crispy, if you like that then use several trays. Cook on 450 degrees and keep checking on them. Constantly switch the trays from top to bottom, and mix the string beans occasionally when you see the onions starting to burn.
