KASHRUS QUESTIONS OF THE WEEK WITH RABBI MOSHE ELEFANT

What bracha does one make on falafel?

The halacha really is that whatever the bracha you make on the pita will cover the falafel. So if the pita is hamotzi, it will certainly cover the falafel and all the other food in the falafel. Usually whenever you make a hamotzi, you dont have to make all the individual brachot on the rest of the food you eat during that meal. Even if the pita is mezonos, the same halacha applies; whatever is in the pita is covered by the bracha. If you’re eating a falafel ball by itself, then it would be a hadama.
