    SPECIAL TU B’SHVAT RECIPES

    CHICKEN WITH OLIVES, FIGS & DATES

    INGREDIENTS:

    2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
    1 teaspoon cornstarch
    1⁄4 cup honey
    1 chicken, cut in 1/8’s
    Salt and pepper to taste
    2 tablespoons olive oil
    1 onion, sliced
    6 cloves garlic, minced
    2 teaspoons dried oregano
    10 gs, stems trimmed, halved
    1 cup pitted dates
    1/2 cup green olives

    DIRECTIONS:

    Tu B’Shvat is the New Year for the trees. It’s time
    to celebrate the seven species of Israel, wheat,
    barley, olives,dates, grapes, figs and pomegranates
    Try this chicken recipe with olives, figs and dates
    for a delicious treat.
    Preheat oven to 400°F. In a small bowl, whisk 1⁄4
    cup water, vinegar, and cornstarch. Whisk in honey
    and set aside. Rub chicken with olive oil, salt and
    pepper and minced garlic and oregano . Place in
    large baking pan surrounded with onion, figs, olives
    and dates. Top with vinegar and honey mixture.
    Bake covered for 1 hr. Uncover for another half
    hour until golden brown and cooked through.

    NYC CANDIED STREET NUTS

    INGREDIENTS:

    2 cups of ry roasted unsalted nuts
    1 cup of sugar
    1/3 cup of water
    cinnamon, chili powder or cocoa
    powder

    DIRECTIONS:

    If you’ve ever walked down the streets of New York City,
    you will know exactly what I’m talking about – the smell of
    those candied Street nuts is delicious 😋
    In a dry clean skillet add dry roasted unsalted nuts 🥜-
    peanuts, almonds, pecans etc, sugar and water. Over
    medium heat stir for approximately five – seven minutes
    until water evaporates and mixture seizes and you are left
    with sugar crystals coating the nuts keep stirring until the
    sugar melts once again and begins to caramelize this
    should take approximately another 3 to 4 minutes. Do not
    leave and keep constantly stirring as they will burn quickly.
    Once sugar has caramelized remove from heat and add a
    splash of vanilla and mix well. At this point you could also
    add a sprinkle of cinnamon or some chili powder or cocoa
    powder if you wanted different flavored candied nuts. Lay
    out on parchment lined cookie sheet to cool completely
    before storing in container. Note 📝- The mixture will go
    from wet to dry and back to wet again.

    FIG AND BALSAMIC GLAZED CHICKEN

    INGREDIENTS:

    1 Chicken
    Salt
    Pepper
    Garlic Powder
    Rosemary
    1/4 Cup Balsamic Vinegar
    3/4 Cup Fig Preserves
    1/4 Cup Water

    DIRECTIONS:

    This amazing delicious chicken dish comes
    together in just a few minutes.
    1 chicken cut in 1/8ths or 6 thighs and legs
    Season chicken with salt, pepper, garlic and
    rosemary
    Mix fig preserves with balsamic vinegar and water.
    Rub into chicken
    Bake in 350 degree oven uncovered for 1.5 hours
