    SPEAK YOUR VUES

    GOING AWAY FOR YOM TOV

    Dear Editor:

Last week someone wrote in a letter condemning those that go away for Rosh Hashana. I don’t see anyone complaining for those that go away for Yom Kippur. These are the High Holidays and if a person gets his chizuk from going to a Yeshiva or Uman let him go and be blessed with a good year.

Editor’s Note: I couldn’t agree with you more. Whatever works for people should be done. Nobody else can really say what a different person should or should not do.

    CHILDREN IN SHUL REVISITED

    Dear Editor:

You printed a letter last week that complained about children coming to shul on Rosh Hashana. The letter writer expressed that it would be better if they’d have stayed home. I would like to write about the children I saw in the shul that I davened in. The children were so well behaved. They stayed near their mother who wished to hear tekiyos and did not interrupt or bother anybody. When the tekiyos were over, all the mothers with small children left. What a beautiful sight! I wouldn’t want it any other way.

Editor’s Note: What excellent chinuch these children have! We must commend our schools and their parents for the excellent job they are doing.

    DISPOSABLE GENERATION

    Dear Editor:
I long for the days where everyone belonged to a community and had his Shul and his Rov and life was so simple.

I find that today we are in a disposable plastic generation shop for a shul for each tefilla have a Rabbi answer different Shailos everything is so not personal.

Editors Note: You make a good point. However, we don’t live the way of old where there was one big kehillah. So going back in time is not really an option.

    NORTH KOREA

    Dear Editor:
What’s going to be with North Korea? It seems like it is heading for a nuclear war. Can we really trust this country’s safety to a President who is mentally unbalanced?

Editor’s NoteJust remember, you voted him in. To keep you sane just keep reminding yourself, “Lev melachim v’sarim b’yad Hashem.” Perhaps this is the beginning of milchemes Gog U’magog.

    DANCING ON ROSH HASHANA

    Dear Editor:

Since when is Rosh Hashana davening a time for dancing? I saw a clip from Uman where they dance in middle of Mussaf. I couldn’t comprehend what I was seeing.

Editor’s Note: See the answer to the first letter this week. Remember, whatever works for people and helps them daven is what counts.

    GLOBAL WARMING

    Dear Editor:

As I put on my air conditioner once again, I started thinking. Could there be some truth to the Global Warming talk? Why is it so very hot at this time of year?

    SOCIAL MEDIA

    Dear Editor:

Am I the only one who wonders where our society is heading with the obsession with social media and the ease of internet shopping? It is taking over our lives! Everything that happens is on you-tube, twitter, or facebook. Amazon is one click away to debt. Is there any way to stop this?

Editor’s Note: We can’t go back in time. This is the way of the world. You gotta either go along with it or you can put your head in the sand and think things will go back to the way it used to be.
