    SANDERS RUNNING

    Dear Editor:

There is a rumor circulating that Bernie Sanders intends to run for the presidency even after the November election when we elect a new president. Is this true?

    Yignatz Borush

Editor’s Note: You never know what a Liberal can come up with! Doesn’t make sense to me, but neither did having Bernie Sanders running at all make any sense either.

    KIDDUSH HASHEM REVISITED

    Dear Editor:

I look forward to your magazine each week. On ‘Making a kiddush Hashem,’ I am one of the people who live upstate all year round and appreciate this letter immensely! I would like to add that I find tzniyus to be a large issue when people come up here. I don’t know if you dress like that in general, but remember, just because it’s warm out doesn’t mean you may expose your body parts, wear see-through garments, or wear such tight clothing that you may as well send out invitations that you’re asking for trouble! Please dress in accordance with Halacha; that is greatly appreciated. If men can wear 3 or more layers, I’m sure you can find a shirt with longer sleeves, more closed neck, and a little bit looser. Skirts can be a drop longer too.

Concerning your letter ‘Permissible or Prohibited,’ being a customer of Walmart all year round, we hear things from the employees. The policy was changed for air conditioners because of the Jewish people. This is such a Chilul Hashem! It’s a joke well known by us, ‘the Jews return bikes and air conditioners at the end of the summer.’ Not a very funny joke if you ask me! Once the summer people leave, it leaves a very bad taste in the mouths of the goyim and we feel it all year round. Can your air conditioners perhaps be left in a closet covered with a shmatta or something similar to keep it for next year? That’s what we do, and you know what-my air conditioner has been fine for the past 5 years. Try it- prices go up from year to year, you can save money and keep it for next year.

On Dunkin Donuts in Sullivan County, the D.D.s in Rock Hill is kosher ONLY if ordered by the dozen from the manufacturer and the box comes sealed. The store does this for you. The factory bakes it there and sends it over, unlike other D.D.’s who bake them at the shop.

On sitting Shiva, unfortunately I sat Shiva this year and had many people come over. There were quite a few inappropriate comments that came with my guests who were Menachem Avel. Someone commented on the pimples on my face, another asked me why I’m not working. I have an illness that doesn’t allow me to work. This person knew that and still insisted that I could work. I’m asking please, please, if you’re going to be Menachem Avel, please think before you talk. We lost a loved one, that’s why we are sitting Shiva. Please have the decency and respect to be careful of what’s coming out of your mouth. Thank You for listening.

Lastly, remember you’re here to relax. Take that opportunity to do so. All my best to everyone and enjoy your summer safely.

Editor’s Note: The issues of tzniyus you bring up are right on the money! Nobody can disagree with that. Regarding Walmart; it’s a shame there are people who would do such a thing, but I think most Jews would not do such a thing. Thanks for the information regarding Dunkin Donuts, although I don’t know why it is needed, when there are so many bakeries around to fill our needs. I am sorry about your loss and about your Shivah experience. It’s a shame some people don’t know what it appropriate to say and not to say. May we only have simchos to share.

    TAKANOS REVISITED

    Dear Editor:

I think to add to the list of what needs takanos are shaitel prices and the price of apartment rentals. Both are unfair and the prices just keep on going higher and higher. A shaitel is a necessity and to rob us to pay these crazy prices are totally unfair. The same with rent. Why should a 3 bedroom cost over $2400? It really is unjust and I wish something could be done about it!

    Miriam B.

Editor’s Note: I am sure shaitel machers would love to hear about new takanos. It would be unfair to apply takanos to rentals now when people spend so much money on housing when they know they will get rentals that will cover their mortgage and property tax. As far as rent and shaitels go, everything goes by supply and demand. As long as there are people who are ready to pay that money, there will be people who are ready to take it.

    TAXED BY TAXES

    Dear Editor:

I feel that us frum Jews are paying more than our fair share in taxes. Consider the fact that we pay tuition and our property tax money goes to the school system which we gain nothing from it. Having said that, I believe it is extremely unfair that the Jewish neighborhoods are targeted for parking tickets in a much more aggressive fashion than other neighborhoods. It is inexcusable that we should have an additional tax placed on us just for parking tickets.

Editor’s Note: I guess it’s a reminder that we’re in Golus. When it comes to Yidden, they will never be treated fairly. Our main goal is to return to Eretz Yisroel with Moshiach, so we really shouldn’t get too comfortable.

    BEAUTIFUL STORES

    Dear Editor:

I am amazed at all the beautiful stores in the mountains. It is hard to believe that these stores are only open for two months. How are they able to make a profit?

    Amazed in the Country

Editor’s Note: Again, I repeat, everything runs on the principle of supply and demand. When there are people ready to pay, there are people ready to take. I am just wondering how the stores in the city are surviving, as I watch people shopping upstate.
